I have to be totally honest here, cause I've had no time to prep myself for #memademay this year! How is it already here again?! So many of these events really inspire me. When things get busy at the end of the school year, though, it can often seem like one more thing to try to participate in when I don't feel like I have time. I'm sure you've all felt that way before, especially if you have children.
So, as I was thinking over what I was going to set as a goal for myself for #memademay 2016 while my blood pressure slowly rose, I remembered that this event ISN'T about a panic to sew or make things every day. It's NOT about winning some sort of competition to prove how crafty you are. It's about celebrating the things that you've already made that you can already wear, or trying to just keep plugging along at that project that you've been working on for a while. It's a way to remind ones self that often, as makers, our favorite items of clothing are things we've spent time creating for ourselves. This year, instead of setting any goals that begin to induce a "I have no time!" panic attack, I'm just going to keep trucking along on the Jessamin sweater that I started last week. I'd love a chance to wear it before full-on, humid heavy, Tennessee summer gets here. I'm nearly to the sleeves too!
But, more than anything, I'm gonna give myself a break if I don't manage to wear something I've made every single day this time around. Cause, sometimes, you just can't do it all all of the time. And I'm learning a little bit more every day that not doing it all is totally a-ok.
How are you celebrating your maker-ness? Are you participating in #MeMadeMay? Let me know how you're going to join in!
